The methods classifies outcropping rock masses in catchments on the basis of the type of resulting unconsolidated deposits. The grain size distribution of the debris material and the depositional style of past debris flow events are related to the dominant flow processes: viscoplastic and frictional/collisional. Three catchments in the upper Susa Valley (Western Alps), characterized by different lithologies, were selected for numerical analysis carried out with a Cellular Automata code with viscoplastic and frictional/collisional rheologies. The obtained numerical results are in good agreement with in site evidences in terms of depositional patterns, confirming the possibility of choosing the rheology of the debris flow based on the source material within the catchment.

Using a special empirical model to estimate sediment yield of Koohbord dam watershed in Kohgilouyeh County

Extended abstract Koohbord dam watershed with a total area of 38.29 square kilometers in Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad province is one of the watersheds without sedimentation data, which requires the use of empirical models to estimate the sediment for estimating sediment, so the results obtained through data is the basis of the management plans of dam watershed. In this research, using base maps ...

ارائه یک رابطه تجربی برای تخمین غلظت رسوبات سیلاب واریزه ای (مطالعه موردی: حوضه آبریز جیان جیا واقع در چین)

Debris flow, as a severe geological disaster, causes huge damages in the mountainous areas every year. The peak discharge of flood and the hydraulic roughness of flow are affected by sediment concentration of debris flow. Therefore, the estimation of sediment concentration based on physical characteristics of basin, sediment and precipitation are necessary. The aim of this study is proposing an...

Patterns of flow evolution in the central area of the Romanian Plain, Case study: the Calnistea Catchment (Romania)

This paper seeks to emphasize the flow variability in the Calnistea catchment by analyzing the local physiographic factors. The research has shown that the amount of precipitation that falls to the ground is low, the rocks in the region are soft, but highly permeable, gradients are gentle in most of the territory and vegetal cover is sparse and therefore cannot hold important amounts of water. ...

Influence of intake’s angel and location on sediment rate in bend of river using CCHE2D software

Investigating the features and flow behavior and related component is one of the complex phenomena that make using of software inevitable. The rivers carry sediment content along with water which is created by erosion of riverbed sediment and erosion caused by rainfall or surface runoff flowing over the catchment area. If the action of river dewatering occurs, the entry of sediment into the int...

Assessment of Corrective Methods for Estimating Suspended Sediment Load for Rivers with Debris Sediment Flow Regime in Khorramarood River - Golestan Province

In the present research, changes in sediment regime in two statistical periods of "natural flow" and "modified / debris flow" were evaluated. In order to determine the significant difference between two mentioned periods (1966-1992) and (1993-2015), the significance test was used. In order to determine the most suitable method of Sediment Rating Curve and correction coefficients, the result...
